DEDICATION AND COMMITTMENT TO HAIRDRESSING

On the 19th September, 2006 Mhar received resident visa status from Australian Immigration. Six days earlier Mhar moved into a house in Springfield that had a Hair Salon established in the double garage. Along with the salon came a shy work experience student that was trying to decide to take up beauty or hairdressing. Once the salon started to operate as Mhar's Hair Salon on 1st October, 2006 Mhar recognised the talents and committment Karlea had to hairdressing so Mhar found ways to encourage Karlea in hairdressing.

In July 2007 Karlea became a School Based Apprentice and the first employee of Mhar's Hair Salon and later that year Karlea completed year 12 and in January 2008 Karlea became a full time apprentice.

July 2008 Mhar opened the new salon in Calamvale Central Shopping Centre and Karlea was a key member of the team.

In July 2009 Karlea was voted best employee of Mhar's Hair Salon's and was rewarded with a trip to the Philippines to attend Hair Asia and to visit Mhar's home town in Northern Samar, Philippines.

In August 2009 Mhar purchased the Price Wave salon in Cannon Central Shopping Centre and Mhar soon moved Karlea to that salon as Mhar felt Karlea had more room for advancement there. In October 2009 Karlea completed her apprenticeship and gained the Certificate III in Hairdressing. This was achieved after 21 Months for an apprenticeship that normally takes 3 years.

Karlea was nominated for Apprentice Of The Year 2010 in the Queensland Government Training Awards. Mhars Hair Salon was named one of 3 finalists in the awards which was a reflection of the effort Karlea and Mhar's other staff put into their training in hairdressing.

Now for the best news - Karlea has decided to buy the licence to operate Mhar's Hair Salon Cannon Hill and this will be finalised in September. Maybe the 19th September which will just be 4 years from when Karlea first started with Mhar as a shy work experience student!!!
